8 Hours Of The Top 10 JavaScript Talks From 2010 That You Can’t Miss

Read Later submit to reddit

Conference talks are an excellent way to pick up lots of useful knowledge and this has been a great year for talks on JavaScript. Between TXJS, JSConf.eu, JSConf.us, JQCon, FOWA and others it’s been a truly amazing year for discussion about the language. In today’s post I’ve selected what I thought were the 10 best talks this year. The idea behind this post is to encourage further learning in JavaScript.

Talks were selected based on how interesting and useful the content they had to offer was and I’ve also taken into consideration votes from other JavaScript developers. This post actually began with a list of 50 talks, but I wanted to provide a list short enough for developers to actually digest. I may post a few others later time-willing.

A few of these guys are friends or colleagues who really know their stuff and I’d definitely recommend checking out their personal blogs for more info on the talk topics. So without further adieu (in no particular order), here are my Top 10 JavaScript talks of 2010. Enjoy!

1. John Resig – The Future Of JavaScript & jQuery (Oct 2010)

2. Chris Williams – Community.js From JSConf (A legendary must-see)

3. 10 Things I Learned From The jQuery Source With Paul Irish (Re-recorded version)

4. Getting Functional with (fab) by Jed Schmidt

5. All You Can Leet By JD Dalton

6. Superclassy Inheritance with Javascript – Alex Sexton

7. Extreme JS Performance by Thomas Fuchs

 8. JavaScript On The Mobile Web With John Resig at TXJS 2010

9. Tom Hughes-Croucher – Piratin’ the YQL way

9. F@%k Yeah! Mobile JavaScript With Brian LeRoux at TXJS

10. Aaron Newton – Programming To Patterns

If you enjoyed this post, please feel free to share it with your friends and colleagues by clicking the retweet button. Together we can encourage more developers to attend conferences or spend a little extra time picking up new skills along the way by watching the recordings.

Thanks!

    • We all love Douglas Crockford, but we felt that some of the other talks presented this year were either more informative or presented more useful content. He of course still remains the 'big daddy' of JavaScript :)
